Battle Born Patriots Chapter Honored for Participation in National SAR Essay Contest
On March 28th, 2026, during the Nevada Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) annual state conference held at the Atlantis Spa & Resort in Reno, the Battle Born Patriots (BBP) chapter received special recognition from the National Society, SAR. The chapter was awarded a “Certificate of Participation” in acknowledgment of its dedicated efforts in assessing and submitting Nevada’s top contestant’s prize-winning paper for consideration in the prestigious George S. & Stella M. Knight Essay Contest. This contest, named after its original sponsors, is one of the most respected national essay competitions sponsored by SAR. While the Nevada contestant did not advance to the national finals this year, the BBP chapter was honored to be recognized for its valuable role in promoting patriotic education and historical scholarship on behalf of the National Society, Sons of the American Revolution. Along with the certificate, the chapter received an SAR Event Flag Streamer bearing the inscription “Knight Essay Participant.” This streamer has now been proudly attached to the BBP Chapter’s SAR flag, enhancing the flag’s display with additional event streamers, often called “campaign ribbons”, that commemorate the chapter’s ongoing commitment and achievements in SAR events. The Sons of the American Revolution is the premier male lineage society dedicated to preserving the ideals and legacy of America’s fight for independence. As a historical, educational, and patriotic nonprofit organization, SAR promotes the core values of patriotism, respect for national symbols, and the enduring importance of American citizenship. SAR embraces the uniting principle of “e pluribus unum”—out of many, one, a motto that reflects the coming together of diverse peoples into one nation and one people. As Jack Manning, SAR President General from 2019-20, eloquently described, SAR’s mission is to maintain and expand the meaning of patriotism and to inspire future generations to cherish and uphold the freedoms won through the American Revolution. The Battle Born Patriots chapter proudly continues this noble tradition through its involvement in programs like the Knight Essay Contest and looks forward to further advancing SAR’s educational and patriotic efforts throughout Nevada.
